What you can try yourself
- Gently move the steering wheel from side to side while turning the key – the steering lock may be engaged.
- If you have a spare key, try it: sometimes the problem is a worn key rather than the lock mechanism.
- Do not force the key or use pliers – a broken key is harder to extract, and the lock may be damaged beyond repair.
